Beta v3.1.5 New Features and Fixes since last release (v3.1.2)

NEW FEATURES:
  • Added support for embedded R3D audio
    • Audio can be activated/deactivated using the AUDIO button to the right of the mini-timeline.
FIXES:
  • Guides are now properly rendered into output images
  • Updated R3D decoders
  • Updated curve interpolation
  • Adjusted how Metadata notes are read

Description of the program components:

Command line parameters:
-d or -dd  - One or more increases the 'logging' level.
-p#        - Setup multiprocessing for # cpu's, overriding the
                     default which is the actual nr of physical available cpu's.
Environment variables:
REDHOME  - When set, specifies the home directory. The default
                   is derived from the executable's path.
TIFF_FAST_WRITES - Make reading/Writing TIFF files a bit faster
                           but some packages don't deal with the origin 
                           flag properly if this is used!
AS_NO_SNAPSHOT - Disable the Snapshot functionality to get normal
                         'Print Screen' behavior.
AS_FULL_FLOAT_LUT - Force the use of full (32 bit) floating point 
                            1D lookup tables (when used).
REDCODE_NO_PREFETCH - Disables prefetching frames from the decoder.
Installation / files:

On windows the default location for settings and log files is the default location for the ‘All User’ application data which default to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\REDCINE

On OSX the default location is: /Library/REDCINE

  • Settings\ImageFormats.cfg
  • Settings\Aspects.cfg These files are generated the first time REDCINE start’s. You can manually adjust these to add more default formats and aspect ratios to the REDCINE settings menus.
  • Settings\Logs\RedCine.log This is the log file of the last time REDCINE was started. Older files will have consecutive number added.
  • Settings\*.reg These are internal files used to maintain the REDCINE current settings.
  • Settings\DefaultTrack.tif This is the file shown at startup and used as the default image in the player when nothing is loaded yet.
Generic hot-keys:

Pressing ‘H’ anywhere will show an up-to-date display with all available hot-keys!

Output filename specification:
The format can be specified as: "#Z(x,y) #F #(xxx,yyy|&) .E" 
        Where: #Z   - Insert the source event/shot number into the filename
                    x = is the number of digits in the event number (defaults to 3)
                    y = Is the first event number (Defaults to 1)
               #S   - Will be substituted with the shotname
               #C   - Will be substituted with the shotname of the input
                       #R   - Will be substituted with the reel-id of the input
                         When the reel-id is missing "AX" will be used
               #F   - Will be substituted with the filename part of the source frame
                xxx - specifies the nr. of digits to use for the filenumber
                 yyy - specifies the first frame number (Overides the default which 
                      is the timecode)
               & - specifies the using of the source frame number, this is 
                           retrieved from the input. It will be ignored in case it 
                           results in duplicated frames.
               .E   - is substituted with the default filename extension for the 
                      output format

If you want a specific number size (padded with zero’s) the you can specify: ”#4.E” while will result in a file sequence of: 0001.ext, 0002.ext, .. etc.

If you want a filename in front of the numbers you can specify: “myname#4.E”. Which would generate: myname0001.dpx, myname0002.dpx, .. etc.)

To use the filename of the source files us ’#F’ anywhere in the filespecification. So, ”#F_#06.E” when the sourcefiles are named: ShotABC011.DPX, ShotABC012.DPX, etc. The result will b: ShotABC_000001.ext, ShotABC_000002.ext, etc.

Lastly using ‘&’ like in ”#F_#06.E” would result in: ShotABC011.ext, ShotABC012.ext, etc

Removing or changing the last part (the ”.E” will remove or change the extension added to the filename.

To output to separate directories (folders) use ’#Zx,y’ tag. The default value for x is 3, so using ”\event_#Z\” will generate subdirectoes named: event_001\001.ext, event_002\001.ext, etc..

To start at any other event then 1 use ”\event_#Z3,10\” which wwould start the previous example with ‘event_010\001.ext’

Beta Build 108 New Features and Fixes since last release

NEW FEATURES:

  • Camera Firmware 16 support added
  • Added REDspace Color space and Gamma settings as default
  • New REDCINE Projects now maintain the same Color space and Gamma settings from the previous Project instead of defaulting back to Camera RGB and REC709
  • Default Project resolutions updated
    • In order to use the new Project resolutions, you must exit REDCINE, delete the file ImageFormats.cfg located in Library/REDCINE/Settings and re-start REDCINE
  • PASTE ALL function added in the COLOR menu
  • Added tag on exported XML to define the overall length of the original clip
  • Quick-keys added for changing selection in the Version Stack – PG UP/PG DN
  • New Error log console added – Use CTRL-E to access
  • Added Quick-key ‘TAB’ for toggling to a clean full screen display
  • Added Quick-key ‘c’ for copying shots in the Library
    • Place cursor over the shot you want to copy
    • Press the ‘c’ key and a copy of that shot will be attached to the cursor
    • Drop the copy in any slot

FIXES:

  • R3D frame rates are now properly read from metadata
  • Added source timecode to EXR format output
  • REDCINE will no longer crash when a bad frame is encountered

Beta Build 108 New Features and Fixes since last release

NEW FEATURES:

  • Camera Firmware 16 support added
  • Added REDspace Color space and Gamma settings as default
  • New REDCINE Projects now maintain the same Color space and Gamma settings from the previous Project instead of defaulting back to Camera RGB and REC709
  • Default Project resolutions updated
    • In order to use the new Project resolutions, you must exit REDCINE, delete the file ImageFormats.cfg located in Library/REDCINE/Settings and re-start REDCINE
  • PASTE ALL function added in the COLOR menu
  • Added tag on exported XML to define the overall length of the original clip
  • Quick-keys added for changing selection in the Version Stack – PG UP/PG DN
  • New Error log console added – Use CTRL-E to access
  • Added Quick-key ‘TAB’ for toggling to a clean full screen display
  • Added Quick-key ‘c’ for copying shots in the Library
    • Place cursor over the shot you want to copy
    • Press the ‘c’ key and a copy of that shot will be attached to the cursor

Command line parameters:

-d or -dd  - One or more increases the 'logging' level.
-p#        - Setup multiprocessing for # cpu's, overriding the
                     default which is the actual nr of physical available cpu's.

Environment variables:

REDHOME  - When set, specifies the home directory. The default
                   is derived from the executable's path.
TIFF_FAST_WRITES - Make reading/Writing TIFF files a bit faster
                           but some packages don't deal with the origin 
                           flag properly if this is used!
AS_NO_SNAPSHOT - Disable the Snapshot functionality to get normal
                         'Print Screen' behavior.
AS_FULL_FLOAT_LUT - Force the use of full (32 bit) floating point 
                            1D lookup tables (when used).
REDCODE_NO_PREFETCH - Disables prefetching frames from the decoder.

Installation / files:

On windows the default location for settings and log files is the default location for the ‘All User’ application data which default to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\REDCINE

On OSX the default location is: /Library/REDCINE

  • Settings\ImageFormats.cfg
  • Settings\Aspects.cfg These files are generated the first time REDCINE start’s. You can manually adjust these to add more default formats and aspect ratios to the REDCINE settings menus.
  • Settings\Logs\RedCine.log This is the log file of the last time REDCINE was started. Older files will have consecutive number added.
  • Settings\*.reg These are internal files used to maintain the REDCINE current settings.
  • Settings\DefaultTrack.tif This is the file shown at startup and used as the default image in the player when nothing is loaded yet.

Generic hot-keys:

Pressing ‘H’ anywhere will show an up-to-date display with all available hot-keys!

Output filename specification:

The format can be specified as: "#Z(x,y) #F #(xxx,yyy|ampersand) .E" 
        Where: #Z   - Insert the source event/shot number into the filename
                    x = is the number of digits in the event number (defaults to 3)
                    y = Is the first event number (Defaults to 1)
               #S   - Will be substituted with the shotname
               #C   - Will be substituted with the shotname of the input
               #F   - Will be substituted with the filename part of the source frame
                xxx - specifies the nr. of digits to use for the filenumber
                 yyy - specifies the first frame number (Overides the default which 
                      is the timecode)
               ampersand - specifies the using of the source frame number, this is 
                           retrieved from the input. It will be ignored in case it 
                           results in duplicated frames.
               .E   - is substituted with the default filename extension for the 
                      output format

If you want a specific number size (padded with zero’s) the you can specify: ”#4.E” while will result in a file sequence of: 0001.ext, 0002.ext, .. etc.

If you want a filename in front of the numbers you can specify: “myname#4.E”. Which would generate: myname0001.dpx, myname0002.dpx, .. etc.)

To use the filename of the source files us ’#F’ anywhere in the filespecification. So, ”#F_#06.E” when the sourcefiles are named: ShotABC011.DPX, ShotABC012.DPX, etc. The result will b: ShotABC_000001.ext, ShotABC_000002.ext, etc.

Lastly using ‘ampersand’ like in ”#F_#06.E” would result in: ShotABC011.ext, ShotABC012.ext, etc

Removing or changing the last part (the ”.E” will remove or change the extension added to the filename.

To output to separate directories (folders) use ’#Zx,y’ tag. The default value for x is 3, so using ”\event_#Z\” will generate subdirectoes named: event_001\001.ext, event_002\001.ext, etc..

To use the filename of the source files us ’#F’ anywhere in the filespecification. So, ”#F_#06.E” when the sourcefiles are named: ShotABC011.DPX, ShotABC012.DPX, etc. The result will b: ShotABC_000001.ext, ShotABC_000002.ext, etc.

Lastly using ‘ampersand’ like in ”#F_#06.E” would result in: ShotABC011.ext, ShotABC012.ext, etc

To output to separate directories (folders) use ’#Zx,y’ tag. The default value for x is 3, so using ”\event_#Z\” will generate subdirectoes named: event_001\001.ext, event_002\001.ext, etc..

Description of the program components:

Command line parameters:

-d or -dd  - One or more increases the 'logging' level.
-p#        - Setup multiprocessing for # cpu's, overriding the
                     default which is the actual nr of physical available cpu's.

Environment variables:

REDHOME  - When set, specifies the home directory. The default
                   is derived from the executable's path.
TIFF_FAST_WRITES - Make reading/Writing TIFF files a bit faster
                           but some packages don't deal with the origin 
                           flag properly if this is used!
AS_NO_SNAPSHOT - Disable the Snapshot functionality to get normal
                         'Print Screen' behavior.
AS_FULL_FLOAT_LUT - Force the use of full (32 bit) floating point 
                            1D lookup tables (when used).
REDCODE_NO_PREFETCH - Disables prefetching frames from the decoder.

Installation / files:

On windows the default location for settings and log files is the default location for the ‘All User’ application data which default to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\REDCINE

On OSX the default location is: /Library/REDCINE

  • Settings\ImageFormats.cfg
  • Settings\Aspects.cfg These files are generated the first time REDCINE start’s. You can manually adjust these to add more default formats and aspect ratios to the REDCINE settings menus.
  • Settings\Logs\RedCine.log This is the log file of the last time REDCINE was started. Older files will have consecutive number added.
  • Settings\*.reg These are internal files used to maintain the REDCINE current settings.
  • Settings\DefaultTrack.tif This is the file shown at startup and used as the default image in the player when nothing is loaded yet.

Generic hot-keys:

Pressing ‘H’ anywhere will show an up-to-date display with all available hot-keys!

Output filename specification:

The format can be specified as: "#Z(x,y) #F #(xxx,yyy|ampersand) .E" 
        Where: #Z   - Insert the source event/shot number into the filename
                    x = is the number of digits in the event number (defaults to 3)
                    y = Is the first event number (Defaults to 1)
               #S   - Will be substituted with the shotname
               #C   - Will be substituted with the shotname of the input
               #F   - Will be substituted with the filename part of the source frame
                xxx - specifies the nr. of digits to use for the filenumber
                 yyy - specifies the first frame number (Overides the default which 
                      is the timecode)
               ampersand - specifies the using of the source frame number, this is 
                           retrieved from the input. It will be ignored in case it 
                           results in duplicated frames.
               .E   - is substituted with the default filename extension for the 
                      output format
